Following the successful renovation and handover of modern, hygienic school toilets at four primary schools and the Linh Xuan Social Protection Center in Ho Chi Minh City, the project “Safe Flush” has entered a transformative new chapter: cultivating a lasting school hygiene culture.

Led by ASIF Foundation, in partnership with Thành Thành Công – Biên Hòa Joint Stock Company (AgriS), the Vietnam Youth Federation in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Social Work Center, this phase goes beyond infrastructure. It focuses on empowering teachers and students to adopt sustainable hygiene practices and environmental responsibility.

Empowering Educators Through Specialized Training

On October 18, 2025, nearly 30 educators—including school principals, Youth Union officers, and core teachers from five beneficiary schools—gathered at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Hall for a dynamic training session titled: “School Hygiene Training and Environmental Protection in Primary Schools.”

Facilitated by experts from the Center for Social Work and Community Development Research & Consultancy (SDRC), the session provided:

·       A deep understanding of what constitutes a clean, safe school environment.

·       Creative teaching methods to integrate hygiene and environmental topics into everyday lessons.

·       Practical tools to help students build habits around personal hygiene, public cleanliness, and safety, including gender awareness.

Participants co-developed actionable resources ready for classroom use:

·       Sample lesson plans for easy replication.

·       A school-wide communication framework to raise awareness.

·       A behavioural hygiene checklist for student monitors to track and encourage positive habits like water conservation, classroom cleanliness, and care for green spaces.

Turning Learning into Action

The training marks the beginning of a series of engaging school-wide activities designed to bring hygiene education to life. These include:

·       Gathering sessions to discuss hygiene topics.

·       Peer-to-peer teacher exchanges.

·       Daily use of behaviour checklists to reinforce good habits.

Ms. Phuong Nhi from Long Thanh My Primary School shared:

“Our school has had similar training before, but none were as in-depth as today’s. I learned so many practical things from the facilitators. Even a small change each day can lead to something much greater.”

Upcoming Events: Environmental Protection Communication Days

To celebrate and reinforce the initiative, a series of vibrant school events will be held, blending fun with learning through interactive games, educational booths, and community engagement.

Event Schedule:

·       October 20, 2025 – Le Minh Xuan 3 Primary School

·       October 27, 2025 – Tan Thanh Dong 3 Primary School

·       November 3, 2025 – Pham Van Hai Primary School

·       November 10, 2025 – Long Thanh My Primary School

These events will bring together students, parents, and local communities to build a shared commitment to a “Green – Clean – Safe” learning environment.

A Commitment to Sustainable Change

Through Phase II of the project, ASIF Foundation and its partners reaffirm their belief that lasting impact comes from investing in people- not just facilities. By nurturing a culture of hygiene and environmental care, they are helping shape a healthier, more responsible generation for the future.
